Perception was founded
in 1992 by Susan Bradley and offers counselling, coaching, courses on related topics and consultancy to individuals and
organisations. An in-house counselling service is
provided to patients of a local primary care trust. Counselling is also offered through various employee assistance
programmes and similar services have been provided to a number of
organisations including the Prison Service, County Durham Social
Services and a local hospice.
Susan made the career change to
counselling after eleven years working with Department of Health
and Social Security clients with benefits, financial and
social difficulties. Initially she consolidated her communication and
interpersonal skills training and experience with a full time
Diploma in Psychotherapy. In 1996 she completed an Advanced
Diploma in Counselling through a college of the University of Leeds.
Susan has also undertaken courses in
Cognitive Behavioural Counselling and Solution Focused Brief
Therapy as well as attending many other relevant workshops,
seminars and conferences. She offers an integrative
approach to counselling using Gerard Egan's Skilled Helper
model as a framework and believes that all
work undertaken should be
responsive to client needs. She practises according to the
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Ethical Framework for Good Practice
Susan has also worked as a trainer on NCFE Counselling
Courses, as a market researcher, as a volunteer with the Duke of Edinburgh Award
Scheme
supervising young people undertaking expedition training and
as honorary publicity officer for various organisations.
Susan is a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy
Accredited Counsellor and a Registered Member of Counsellors and
Psychotherapists in Primary Care
